Why 'Stookey Blue'?

Stiffkey village is located on the North Norfolk coast and is sometimes called 'Stookey' or 'Stewkey'; the band is named after the famous Stiffkey Blue cockles found there. The estuary mud where the cockles live gives the shells their distinctive blue colouring. There's more about it on this Information Britain page. Farrow and Ball have an 'inky navy' paint offer called Stiffkey Blue, so word has even got out on the upmarket decor scene.

Also, please note, we are Stookey Blue and not Blues - we play folk music and ceilidh dance music, not the blues! :)
